All this rubbish about which players are the best is pointless, professional club rugby is about who is in the club side not about where they come from. The success of a club team is dependant on recruiting the optimum talent in each position and then ensuring that they play as a team.Perhaps the discussion has been tainted by jealousy about the European cup competition being such a success commercialy and what is more important with the rugby watching population.

Headhunter99 - odd attitude: it is a professional sport.
You don't think eg England 'crave' the crowds the SA/Oz/NZ bring when they play at Twickenham? How they squeeze every last drop by insisting on pointless non-test Barbarians fixtures at end of each Nov/Dec tour?
I'd suggest NH teams touring UK generate far more than the reverse.

@Leinster_goy - Agreed. It just needs to be done. International Rugby is unique to sport in the fact that their is a NH vs SH rivalry. So having a one off game against the domestic champions from the North & the South to give those teams the chance to call themselves "the best domestic side in the world" would be a great addition to Rugby. Obviously timing of the contest is key but surely there's room for one extra match, a match that would have a lot of Rugby fans drooling.

leinster_goy . . . pointless summer tests? I agree many have been worthless in the past with NH teams sending almost 'B' squads, but they are not imo pointless. Unsure when else can they be played in the already busy est schedules.
As for venue - IF (and that's a big IF on recent years) a NZ side won, money-wise they'd be better playing in NH as the stadiums (apart from Eden Park, and the Blues aint gonna happen!) are all 35,000 or less, playing in front of 80,000 would be far better.

@leinster_goy
Yeah! Please can someone make this happen. An idea that I heard of a while ago, but nothing. Surely people want this? Come on PR, start a campaign.

@leinster_goy - Great idea, unfortunately it will never fly as the Sanzar unions want the money a 2or 3 test summer series generates so badly. Given the way in which they bitched until they got their 10 mill from the IRB no way would they give up their cash cow for a one off game.
Brilliant final Leinster were just untouchable.

Got to say...Leinster are the most complete club team in the pro era...they're strong 1 through to 22 and that's what's won them game after game. Last years final was better...one of the best I've ever seen for that matter, the problem for the saints was that they were brilliant 1 through to 22 for 40 minutes and Leinster were strong 1 through to 22 for 80 minutes.

I love the enthusiasm of the Leinster fans but not the arrogance - yes you were good yesterday but no you're not the best in history, and yes you'd get thumped by a top super 15 side.
If you disagree, let me point out 2 truths - 1 brad thorn would not start for the current crusaders side, and 2 even though I will be behind Ireland in NZ this summer, I know well get thumped by the all blacks!

A world club championship would prove how inferior the NH teams are. Their best players happen to be from the SH. This is why the Irish team does not do too well in the 6 nations compared to Wales who have more Welsh players playing in key positions. The IRFU are trying to address this issue I have to say by the quota rule they plan to introduce. They will probably follow England and have South Africans singing ' Irelands Call'.

the rugby powers that be need to pull their collective finger out of their smelly arses and get a cross-hemisphere club play-off organised. shouldn't be too hard - just get rid of the pointless summer test tours. heineken cup winners v super rugby champs in mid-june, rotate between a european venue and sanzar venue each year
