Give me RSA or NZ commentators every time. The3 French are wonderful and I don't mind the Kearnsey mob in Oz. Oz commentators on Seven are pathetic and like the BBC's Barnes don't know a lot of the rules.

BRING BACK BUDDHA!!!!!!!

Typical of the Ausies en English u are not on par with NZ and RSA watch next year what the BOKS will do....remember 2006 how the Boks lost almost all there games and Bang in 2007 they won the WC...In RSA we plan things u should try it to Ausies and English

I am Jake White fan, i would love him to coach the Boks again but let me tell you Pdv is also a great coach, English and Aus coaches in general are very biased , remember Pdv has won a u/21 world cup just like jake , jake lost almost all his games in 2006 and won the World Cup the next, Ausies and English when last did u win something. From 2004 till present RSA and NZ has dominated World rugby . Ausies u couldnt even beat the NZ in 10 games.

Yes Phil Kearns is biased, and he openly admits it. At least he has a sense of humour. Listening to Hugh Bladen makes me want to slit my wrists.

twoeightnine - belatedly I must say that I enjoyed your comment. On occasions have felt I was watching a different game to the commentator. Have still to find out why the ref penalized the Boks after the Wallabies threw in their line-out short. It led to the try that won them the game. What was Bobby Skinstad thinking? Hey mate, we like to know these things and consider it your job! Have also read post-game reports in newspapers and wondered if the journalist had been at the same game.

I am in Australia and I have found that both South African and NZ commentators are relatively even handed. There are exceptions in both countries and I know there are exceptions writ large here as well. Idiots like Kearns I find embarasing with his jingoistic approach. But over the years I have enjoyed most SA commentators. They know their rugby and give credit when due.

Meneer is right in regard to commentators. Hugh Blyden and Joel Stransky are pretty fair, in fact particularly fair - sometimes too generous toward visiting teams - while most Aussie commentators are appallingly one-eye'd. Almost drive you to hurl your remote through the t.v screen! Absolute half-wits! And then we've heard some real one-eye'd twits in the UK.

That aside, Richard Anderson has my blessing to say anything he pleases about Oregan Hoskins, SARU, and Peter de Villiers. Between the three of them they have dragged down Springbok rugby and the brand to an astoundingly low level, and shamed the country. The lunatic Idi Amin could barely have done worse if in charge. No board of directors in a normal private enterprize would tolerate such failure and the utter ineptitude behind it. Watching these gremlins at work has now become a daily comedy of errors with people overseas gleefully awaiting the next episode. This is a live Goon-type show, but not featuring Spike Milligan, just a couple of silly, out-of-their-depth, nitwits with the brains of a turnip. Next think Punch magazine will have a weekly feature, not of the sayings of Mao TseTung, but 'The sayings of Peter de Villiers'. Maybe they'll even come up with a 'little green book' containing this and make a killing selling it. This rugby situation in South Africa is truly unbelievable.

Have to agree with "Meneer".

Doesnt matter where in the world you watch NH or SH the local commentators will always be a little to heavily biased. There are no saints!

my first post, so not sure whether this will get posted, but reading the article by richard anderson, a 4 letter word immediately springs to mind. personally i thought the guys at supersport did a fantastic job in giving an objective running report on the action and not for the first time. they're probably more neutral than their southern hemisphere counterparts.

think it will be best to wait for the dust to settle on a very disappointing tri-nations for the Boks, before we start culling left, right and centre. pdv came in for a lot of stick recently and reminds me a bit of the pantomime villain, but he still has a very successful record as Bok coach. the Boks lost two test in the last minute, which would have put us in 2nd position behind an outstanding All Black side and above a young up and coming Aussie team (they could have ended up so easily with the wooden spoon) In a competition between arguably the best 3 rugby teams in the world, the margin of success and failure is so small. It will be disappointing if heads started rolling just for the sake of silencing some critics.

Eddie Butler! The only reason he isn't biased as he seems to rarely be watching the same game as me so I doubt he has worked out he is watching Wales.

All commentators show bias depending on your own bias. That is why sport takes hours in the pub to disagree over. I like the Aussie commentators. Yes, they can be one eyed but they also give it out if their team is playing badly too. Having said that I only hear them in tests that I am a neutral in so perhaps not the same frustration.

norm - Moore hasn't done that in years, he's constantly off on a tangent only marginally related to the game he's actually watching. Butler's a good shout though.

Meneer I so agree with your comments but dont include Kafer with the other Oz idiots and as for the whingeing whining Moore enough said. Dont be surprised Anderson is a plonker and writes as usual with that superior knowledge of a colonialist. After all us mere colonials should know our place and bow to the superior knowledge of one rom the Mother country to whom we owe so much.He writes many articles that show him to be so out of touch with the game and of course like all Imperialists knows more about our culture and countries than we do. He should be ashamed to accept any payment for the dribble he writes for surely it is accepting payment under false pretences.

Sorry mate, while I agree with you on Barnes, and to a degree on Guscott, Brian Moore???

The guy reads the game well and has a clear cut knowledge of the rules, which made it all the more hilarious, those times when he shut down that part of his rationale to claim penalty England as Martin Johnson head butted one of the opposition .

The name you all overlook also is Eddie Butler, sound and fair commentator, when have you ever heard him tilt his favour towards the taffs from the commentary box.

Lol calm down Ben7... have to agree with you though mate, i get annoyed with our commentators in NZ too... the ozzies are funny.. the SA's can stoop a bit Low in their comments towards the all blacks sometimes (Most of the time) but i don't care.. just don't mention Richie McCaw in front of em'

SA commentators- fair

Aussie commentators- if their winning their biased, if not winning they're fair. And they have a sense of humour.

NZ commentators- without any doubt the most one eyed, biased, crappiest commentators of all time. I am a kiwi myself and along with everyone I know, we can't stand listening to them. They practically orgasm when mccaw or Carter touches the ball

Well done Richard you understanding of PDV selection is as bad as N, Hemiphere refs calling of new laws.

Meneer was right about you. For your info PDV lost the vote to Meyer BY 13 TO 2 in the selection process. The medeling politicians forced this on SARU and tried to offer Meyer another role to keep everyone happy. Meyer declined and this info would of come out so Hoskins did the right thing in letting SA public know why he was elected.

Honesty goes a long way, PDV was always going to be a failure which is why the rest of the world rugby should support him. For the good of rugby in SA PDV should step down, if he really supports the boks then do the right thing.

Boks forever

lawynd says...

Which English commentators do you have a problem with? Because you've got Stuart Barnes, the man who couldn't deliver praise to England if his life depended on it; Brian Moore who spends most of each match dissecting every discrepancy in the referee's performance and moaning when either team give the ball some air; Jeremy Guscott who is sat in the same chair as Barnesy,
