If there's one thing Sarries need to do its develope their back play. Ashton at his best is a top player and I can well understand his connection with the Rugby League background. Hodgson certainly has great distribution skills, but so often the Sarries backs have been unable to make the most of that. It will be interesting to see how it goes, because lets face it Ashton won't be happy playing second fiddle out on the wing. Potential into actual thats the challenge.

Any one would think Foden is an 8 man pack. Foden and Ashton fed off the forward dominance more apparent last year than this.

Agree it's the wrong move in terms of play style at Sarries but clearly he needs the positivity Farrell gives and worships his league pedigree. Not a money decision. It's a game, supposed to be fun... If he wasn't enjoying it then it's the right move.

Not going to come out with the 'he just lives off ben foden's scraps' because honestly most of the time the entire saints team does...plus goode is pretty goode (geddit) so maybe ashton will fit in there?

Maybe he'll be looking to move on again after 5 years, which is the length of time he spent with northampton, helping them get promoted by smashing championship try scoring records and then helping northampton to a heinkein cup final and cement them as a top 4 team and achieving premiership player of the season along the way. Luckily though the fans and the media have managed to completely smash his confidence by ripping him to pieces at every chance...so now he is a shell of his former self. Good luck to you chris, i hope you get your old swagger back and realise the form that led you to leading scorer in the RWC and the Six nations, screw the negative public, Jim mallinder and the media....i doubt they were angels when they were in their early twenties and they didn't have any talent.

I wonder how long it will be before he's looking to move again?

Good player, on his day, but needs to grow up still and become a bit more humble.

Well Sarries already have several good wingers at the club and they don't seem to score many tries, so i can't see Ashton being much different. He may enjoy the training and the lifestyle more than at Saints, but the games are gonna be an absolute bore. Its clear that he moved for the money, but he must surely realise that his career, on a personal level at least, is going to suffer.

Good move ashton, mallinder showed his true colours when you decided to leave publically throwing the dummy out the pram to the media and ashton out of the playing squad. The staff at saracens, most inparticular farrell will help give ashton focus where as the saints seem like the 'dirty dozen' with mallinder aka telly savalas at the helm. Its true saints play suits ashton more but ashton looks for so much work and with Goode, strettle, barrit, farrell, wiggy, hodgson i'm sure he'll still be scoring tries.

But he wont see the ball at Saracens as it doesnt often get past 12 or 13. And Foden wont be there to make him look so good. Wrong move Ashy.
