Hard to see where Italy are going atm .They have always looked best when keeping the ball in hand but seem to be doing a kicking gameplan .Burton really isnt a international class flyhalf his ok but not top class and he along with both scrumhalves imo kick possesion away to much .That Italy want to develope a kicking game is understandable. But surly they should be playing to their strengths for most of a match rather than kick for the hell of it..Also share concerns on the age of the front 5 i dont see many of the present lot being there for 2015 really ,and VanZyl droped again for Bortolami really .This weekends match is going to be very close imo and to be honest i just dont see a clear winner

good to see young Furno on the bench.

McLean has just a good left boot, just not enough for test rugby and honestly is is very mediocre when it comes to create lines and terribly luck of imagination, speed and power.

Sgarbi can tackle but he is still pretty raw while Canale can also create playes, so it's the best change Brunel made.

Castro.....well, I much appreciate his miraculous recover, but wow you must be nuts to put him in at the first minute! Legend

This is a watershed match for Italy. Mirco has been a great servant but he's not half the player he was 5-6 years ago and I'm not sure what Mclean does. The front 5 looks old too. Rugby has move on from props and locks going from set piece to set piece. I hope over the next year Rizzo, Cittadini and Furno become regular starters. Hopefully Brunel has a punt in the summer internationals and picks a load of youngsters. Italy can beat Scotland but need to evolve in terms of personnel and style to beat other teams.

I also don't understand why Italy doesn't take sevens seriously? Teams such as Russia, Portugal and Spain all have sevens teams, why not Italy? Surely it would help raise the profile of the game in Italy and produce players who are fast and have good skill sets.It could also help bridge the gap between under 20 level to celtic league/full international honours.

Benvenuti needs ti quickly improve his defense, he leaves too many gaps outside the inside centre.

This is the level for the moment of Italy.

I do not know about Masi, he was so poor during this 6N. Bring Bergamasco at inside centre where he belongs.

Neither I'd place Venditti on the wing. He's too big for that position.

I'd rather use Toniolatti. I know his defence is poor, but not much worse than Venditti's.

But we're Italian and we still think that you have to be big to be a good player. How far we are from understanding what rugby really is.

marcop, i prefer 1000times canale to sgarbi...have you noticed how many tackles sgarbi fail? 190cm x 100kg and 9 times out of 10 he don't tackle his opposite...

Like the look of that side, don't know about dropping MacLean out of the side entirely though, a decent footballer who could serve Italy well from the bench. On a whole with the passionate Stadio Olimpico fans I reckon Italy might just have a little bit too much for Scotland on this occasion.

Glad to see they've replaced Maclean - his lack of pace was alarming - he made Cueto look rapid.
