Hitting form: James Simpson-Daniel
Bryan Redpath has urged James Simpson-Daniel to follow up his Harlequins performance against Newcastle this Saturday.
The Gloucester Head Coach was encouraged by his player's improved effort at the Twickenham Stoop last week and hopes that the back can kick on as the struggling Guinness Premiership outfit desperately look for a run of positive results.
Simpson-Daniel plied his trade at outside centre in the capital due to injuries to Mike Tindall and Henry Trinder in what was a thrilling 35-29 finish, which didn't go the way of the Cherry and Whites.
Yet former scrum-half Redpath admitted he was finally encouraged by the 27-year-old's showing and is keen for more of the same seven days on.
"Simpson-Daniel played well," he said, speaking to thisisgloucester.co.uk.
"He looked strong and dangerous every time he touched the ball as much as anyone else on the field aside from their half backs. Danny Care and Evans were pretty good for them."
"He's always been a great player, no-one has ever questioned that. He's had bad luck with injuries but he's probably under-performed at thirteen for us this year when Trinder and Tinds have been injured.
"Harlequins was his first performance for us this season when he actually looked very dangerous. He looked comfortable in a lot of things he was doing. That's credit to him. He's had to work hard and fight through a lot of things and he's got to keep doing that.
"You can't just have one week when it's good and the next you standards drop.
"For him I hope he pushes on and I'll certainly be saying that to him."
